Tech plays a key role in all of our work as we think about how to leverage technology to make the experience of foster youth better.

Note: We are a fully remote team and will continue to be after COVID restrictions are lifted.

The role

Think of Us is looking for a DC-based Executive Assistant to support Sixto Cancel, our CEO. This person should love being a part of the “building stage” of organizations and get excited by navigating chaos, identifying when to create structure and when to stay scrappy and roll with the punches.

This person will partner closely with Sixto and be fully trusted to manage his calendar, email, phone and contacts, as well as coordinating aspects of both his professional and personal life. 

We’re looking for someone that is committed to figuring out the many moving pieces Sixto navigates every day so they can be a strategic supporter of and contributor to his work. Learning these ropes will require them to be a curious, proactive learner, and they should be comfortable picking things up as they go along and independently navigating ambiguity. They should also know how to advocate for themselves when they need support to get things done – we’re a team and care about setting each other up for success!

A strong candidate should also have an obsession with knocking through their to-do list and a knack for prioritizing last-minute asks, even if they derail original plans. No two days are the same, but this person should show up every day prepared to unblock Sixto and think critically about how to make him the most effective leader he can be! 


Responsibilities

This role is dynamic in scope, with responsibilities including but not limited to:

  • Managing Sixto’s daily to do list as a gatekeeper against any waste of time
  • Reviewing all incoming email correspondence; responding, delegating and prioritizing  as needed
  • Managing his calendar strategically, helping him meeting deadlines and prioritize activities
  • Logging a list of key decisions Sixto needs to make each day including things needing signatures, documents needing review, emails needing urgent responses, etc. 
  • Attending meetings and owning note taking +follow-up; drafting communications and emails on his behalf
  • Tracking and submitting Sixto’s expenses
  • Coordinating events, both internal or external
  • Taking on random tasks that are important to the CEO but difficult to complete in between a day fully booked with meetings

Requirements

  • Based in DC; available to be in the office when Sixto is (roughly 10am to 7pm)
  • 4+ or more years of work experience, ideally in organizational operations and/or as an Executive Assistant at a fast-paced organization
  • Flexible + hands-on working style
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving – strong critical-thinking skills and superior judgement are a must
  • Organizational Wizard – to-do lists are holistic and checked off daily, nothing falls through the cracks and you have systems that work
  • Excellent communication skills, written + verbal (especially written!)
  • Fluency in GSuite + other tech tools like Asana + Slack
  • Commitment to our mission and nuanced understanding of systemic, structural racism and inequity
  • Commitment to centering the lived experience of those touched by child welfare in EVERY aspect of your work
  • Lived experience and/or proximity to Child Welfare is a plus

This role has a salary range of $70,000 - $80,000, with specific offering based on experience. We are looking to fill this position immediately. Applications will be accepted through Sunday, July 4th and will be reviewed on a rolling basis.
